at NovoLogic, we use a morning huddle each day to let team members communicate the need for uninterrupted time during the day to accomplish a time critical task. Then other team member can volunteer to be the "go-to" person for any unexpected needs during the day.

We also use a visual cue to reinforce that a team member is in the dark as well as instant message status.
